7. When Evil Lurks - Great movie with a mix of possession and body horror with a smattering of “never trust a child in a horror movie.” Incredibly well acted and with a sense of despair that reminded me of “The Dark and the Wicked.” Don’t miss this one.

8. Leviathan - Another suggestion from Joe, and while this wasn’t the 90s joyride of “Deep Rising,” I do love ocean horror. The beginning was a bit slow, but I was entertained. The monster reminded me a lot of the creature in The Thing visually. So goopy!

9. The Platform 2 - Spanish horror movies really are something special. I loved the first movie, and I was just as enthralled with the second. I love a prequel, I love getting more backstory, and I love a dystopia. I really hope we get a third installment. THIS is my kind of arthouse horror.
