OCTOBER ORGY OF VIOLENCE 15 - THE PUMPKINING
I’m a bit behind on my countdown this month due to my fabulous Maine vacation, but I’m back and ready for some double and triple features to catch up!
14. Things Heard and Seen - This definitely feels more like a thriller with supernatural elements than a horror movie, but Netflix miscategorized it, not me, so I’m counting it. Decent haunted house movie with potential, but the ending was a bit of a mess. It’s based on a book, and I’m really wondering if it was just a less than stellar adaption. Could not unsee how much the male lead reminds me of Dennis from It’s Always Sunny.
🎃🎃½
Stream - Netflix
15. The Invitation - This was just fun! As someone who reads and writes romance, the first part of the movie was hitting every billionaire romance trope SO HARD, and I loved it. Then we took a hard veer out of the rags to riches romance into creepy Ready or Not style family. Loved seeing Nathalie Emmanuel in a leading role too!
🎃🎃🎃🎃
Stream - Netflix
16. The Blackening - Decent horror comedy that could have used leaning into the horror aspects a bit harder. I love anything that subverts any tropes in horror, so this was fun, and let’s get real, the white people are the ones who would investigate the weird noise in the creepy forest and get taken out first. This certainly isn’t Get Out, but it was an entertaining 90 minutes.
