21. The Nightingale - I loved this one. I went into this apprehensive because it’s by the same director as “The Babadook” which I hated. (I will give a caveat that the entire reason I hated that movie was due to that fucking irritating kid. Yes, I get that’s the point. And yes, I still wish he would have gotten eaten by the damn monster.) I absolutely loved this one. It was a brutal movie that no one should watch without reading a THOROUGH synopsis, but it’s near the top of the movies I’ve watched this year. I was a bit on the fence as to if it even counted as horror, but if “I Spit on Your Grave” counts, so does this.
22. Parasite - I really really really love Korean horror movies, and I see why this one won a billion awards. It was a totally unique premise, and the cast made you want them to succeed, even though they were pretty terrible people. (I kept thinking of the cast of “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.”) Another one with a long runtime that seemed to fly by because the story just sucked me in.
