RIP Austin and Welcome Dover
Nov. 7th, 2009 08:54 pmI love fish. When I was younger, my Mom and I had a big aquarium. I loved it, and I totally want to get another one when I have the space and the money.
Austin was the little blue betta I got on January 1. Austin was a badass little fish. He rode all the way here from Virginia in tupperware. Eighteen hundred miles and he survived it. Austin died last week. :-( He had a good long life for a betta and I buried him in the front yard and toasted my fallen homie with some Sailor Jerry.
RIP Austin. You were an awesome little fish and I'll miss you.

Today, I popped into PetCo just to check out their fish and see if I bonded with anyone. I didn't want a blue fish because I'm not replacing Austin, but something about having a little fish swimming around just makes me happy. I was lonely for the last week seeing his bowl all empty and sad. It was time for a new friend.
Swimming around in one of those tiny betta cups was a WHITE betta. I've never seen a white one before. He's super tiny, about half the size of Austin, very lively, and super cute. I decided to continue my theme of naming my fish after towns and call him Dover.

Welcome to the family Dover!
