Turn The Page by Metallica

On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha
You can listen to the engines moaning out as one note song
You think about the woman or the girl you knew the night before

But your thoughts will soon be wandering the way they always do
When you're riding sixteen hours and there's nothing much to do
And you don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through

Here I am - on the road again
There I am - up on the stage
Here I go - playing star again
There I go - turn the page

So you walk into this restaurant strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode

Yeah, most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can
All the same old cliches, is it woman? is it man?
And you always seem outnumbered, you don't dare make a stand
Make your stand

Here I am - on the road again
There I am - up on the stage
Here I go - playing star again
There I go - turn the page

Out there in the spotlight, you're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play

Later in the evening, you lie awake in bed
With the echoes of the amplifiers ringing in your head
You smoke the days last cigarette, remembering what she said
What she said

And here I am - on the road again
There I am - up on a stage
Here I go - playing star again
There I go - turn the page
There I go
There I go
And I'm gone

OMG! This is... this is... it's so fabulous, I'm not sure I have the words to fully express the fabulousness! It's like you took everything I could've possibly wanted from a vid to this song, and then made it even better. I love how you told a story with it, and gave real, painful insight into the characters. The transition from Sam's POV to Dean's was flawless, and the whole thing just flowed so smoothly and with such energy.

It's really hard to pin down my favorite moments because there were so many, but I think I especially loved the first "here I am" as Sam holds a gun to Gordon's head, and Mary's appearance on "remembering what she said."

Okay, I've already watched this, like, five times, and I think I need to go do it again now. Thank you so much for this! ♥ ♥ ♥

::Giant grin:: I'm so glad you liked it! Originally, I was thinking that this vid was going to be more Impala eye candy than plotty, but after listening to the song a few dozen times this PLOT seemed to take hold. Luckily, there was still plenty of room for Impala eye candy!

Sam holding that gun on Gordon was totally my favorite moment too. I love it when Sam gets to be a badass!

I'm so glad you liked it! ::Dance of vidder joy::

I'll probably be starting the Depeche Mode vid tomorrow. Mmmmm, delicious Dean angst!

I have versions that are around 300 MBs and are about the screen size of your average episode download. Would that work for you?

Possibly - DVDs take MPEG2 encoded versions. (most of mine are around 300-400MB). BTW, if you ever want to submit your vids to a convention (say Winchestercon) MPEG2 is also the same required format.

As a fellow Mac vidder, I'd be happy to help you double check your current encoding method offline. A good place to start is here

I wanted to tell you how very much I liked this.

First of all, you posted a lo-res version. As I have dial-up, I am usually unable to watch vids, so I really appreciate it that you made a lo-res version available.

I wondered about using a Metallica version of "Turn the Page" instead of the Bob Seger version, but of course, this being SPN, the Metallica version is more appropriate -- and to my surprise I really liked the Metallica version.

The flow between scenes seemed seamless to me. The transition from Sam's POV to Dean's POV was very smoothly done. Really nice choice of scenes. Loved all the closeups of the Impala.

The whole thing seemed completely professional to me. I would love to see your vid used as an SPN promo on the CW.

Thanks for sharing.

Wow, this is fantastic. The choice of song was inspired, and the visuals went with it perfectly, both in rhythm and in echoing the lyrics. It had a very crisp look to it. Gorgeous.

As much as I enjoy vids focusing on Sam and Dean's relationship, it's also nice to see one that gives a larger view of the show. I enjoyed it, thanks!

Really, really good.

There needs to be more Metallicar vids out there.

Or just ones like this, with our angsty boys and their life on the road.

I <3 it :D
