Flist, I'd like you to meet Bessie IV. Every car my Mom ever had was named Bessie, so I'm continuing the tradition.

This car is lovely. Unlike the piece of shit I've been driving, this car has great pickup, steers like a dream, and is wonderful in every way. It's TINY which I love. I hate big cars. I don't feel comfortable driving a big car, so it's like this car was made just for me.

ISN'T SHE THE CUTEST THING EVER?

John, the salesman at the Toyota dealership was an absolute sweetheart. Pretty much the opposite of the car salesman stereotype. We were at the dealership for about three hours on Thursday because they had to call around to find a car that was blue and had power locks and windows. He made me promise to stop in before I went to Texas to tell him how I liked the car.

Of course my grandfather had to behave like an idiot by actually YELLING at John and POUNDING ON THE TABLE demanding that he give us a lower price. First of all, the price was low. I got the car pimped out with all the power packages, and it was under $15K. Second of all, I AM PAYING FOR 100% OF THE CAR. If the price satisfies ME, then that's the important part. Third and the biggest one of all, behaving like a jackass and screaming at people is not going to make them help you. My grandfather has always been like this. I really really cannot stand him. It's always the wrong people who get to live and the people who are actually worth something who die.

I love my car, I just wish that Mum had been the one at the dealership with me. Mum would have loved my zippy little blue car. She did love it when we test drove one over the summer. I do feel that Mum bought me the car. She did help pick it out, she approved the choice, and her life insurance paid for it. Mum always got me the best presents. I'm going to consider this my last Christmas present from her.

I just cannot wait until she has Texas plates.

Silly Tori read the first paragraph! ;-) Her name is Bessie. Bessie the Fourth to be exact. Mum always named her cars Bessie. I have no idea why the tradition started, but as long as I can remember the cars were Bessie.

COME TO TEXAS AND YOU CAN RIDE IN HER.

Bessie is a good car name.

So, I'm not gonna lie, I totally laughed at the word 'ride'. I think my brain is ruined forever, thanks fandom.

TEXAS PLANS ARE LOOKING LIKE JULY NEXT YEAR~ :D

I was thinking the same thing as I typed it. Fandom has pervified us all.

And YAY for next July. I should be fully Texasified by then! (Who am I kidding? Duia will have me fully Texased in like a week!)

I am like Dean Winchester with this car. I was talking to her and saying how I was going to get her a nice pretty GPS. My grandma and I went to the grocery store today, and I was totally walking away from the car BACKWARDS saying "It's just so damn CUTE!"

I have totally become Dean with this car. Seriously. I hugged the car last night when I brought her home. Considering that I despised my last car because the motor liked to turn off at random intervals, this is a new and exciting feeling.

OMG! That is my car! Mine is named Edward, after the vampire, because when I saw him (I know cars are supposed to be girls but this one feels like a boy to me) I thought the colour was "dazzling" blue, not blazing. And Edward dazzles people in the books. So yeah.

Congrats on the car!

Right after I saw the color I totally texted [livejournal.com profile] duia with "MY CAR SPARKLES LIKE A VAMPIRE!!!!" I was going to get it in red, but they couldn't find one. I'm actually kind of glad that they couldn't find the red because the more I stare at the SPARKLES the more I love her!

PS - CAR TWINS!!!!

Awww, cute! I wanted to get a Toyota Yaris, but I ended up with a Fiat Punto. Apparently, financial considerations have to be given priority over teh cute, who knew?

I goggled the Fiat, and I actually think it's pretty cute too! I just love hatchbacks. I think they all look like little wind-up toys!

I must admit, it's one of the things I always find strangest whenever I visit my best friend in Texas - there are almost no small cars on the road! Over here it's the other way around, big 4x4s and gas guzzlers, whilst common, are definitely not as ubiquitous as small cars like Fiats or Toyotas or Minis or VWs.

It's pretty horrifying the amount of huge cars on the road here. I don't know how anyone can handle those huge cars. My old car was a Chevy Corsica, and that car felt WAY too big for me. I can't imagine driving a giant SUV or a truck.

My friend Barbara has an SUV and ohmygod, it's HUGE! I feel lost in it. I don't how anyone parks! I'm bad enough with my cute little Punto.

Of course, I'm sure the price of petrol has something to do with it. If petrol in the States was anywhere near as expensive as it is here, even with it having come down lately, I doubt there'd be so many big cars.

I totally get that about the parking! When I parked my new car yesterday it was wonderful because there was all this space inside the lines! I think I could have fit two of my cars inside one parking space!

Dude, that is one sexy car. I love the color too.

I wish my camera could pick up all the sparkles in the paint job. All paint should be metallic. It should be a low!

That car is really cute! :) And the colour is awesome!

I hear ya on the 'not a fan of big cars' thing. I feel the same. Besides, it's awful trying to find a parking space in the city with a big car.

I am amused every single time I park the car because there's like a foot of space on each side within the parking space. I might even be able to parallel park!
